London's Laundrettes

The Laundrette is dying in London, like this dingy place in Central London, whereas in Paris, they appear to be thriving still. It was my aim for a long while to get a photo of one of the fierce caretaker ladies with a cigarette hanging out her mouth, that used to be a permanent fixture of all laundrettes. I've only just realised that with our smoking ban now, that can no longer happen......

(and yes, I have left my reflection in shot)

Your reflection was the first thing i noticed! Good to see you. Dot is indeed a thing of the past. Actually i need a launderette, out of area, since we are water-less in Tewkesbury. Can't wash clothes at all, so your pic is like offering me cakes when i'm on a diet!

Dear Ham,

May you advise me a website or a blog in which there are all the addresses of London's Laundries? Please!

Thank you for your understanding!
Emeline

Launderettes do tend to be in residential areas. Central Paris is more likely to be residential than central London. That's the way it is.

Here is a useful website (I think):

there no such thing in either Greece or Hungary. Each house has its own washing machine. In case you want to clean a fragile textile you can use the dry cleaning many places offer, thats all. But I've seen them in Brussels and London. Is it cheaper to wash your clothes there instead of home??
