Nelson Mandela

Today's picture is of Nelson Mandela, as sculpted by Ian Walters, a sculptor and art lecturer who gave up teaching to devote his life to producing memorials to important leftwing figures and died earlier this year. He also was responsible for one of my favourite London sculptures, that of Fenner Brockway.

Ham, the cropping was a brilliant idea, makes the portrait even more powerful. Nelson Mandela is such a remarkable man. I am in awe.

Another great picture, Ham. I presume this is the sculpture outside the Festival Hall.
